sandminer, the pre-occupation by most AGW alarmists on CO2 influencing the climate is so far extreme it has convinced so many people into believing man-made CO2 is the only factor involved in climate change. This is despite the fact that the IPCC actually admits this is not true. Yet some AGW alarmists are running around yelling we face various catastrophes unless we cut CO2 emissions dramatically. What's missing from the real story being told to the public is man-made CO2 is just one of many factors. No one has accurately determined with any high degree of confidence the impact of man-made CO2, let alone the various other inputs to the climate. There are so many unknowns that any prediction of of future climate are really just an educated guess at this stage. The only way so far to know what might happen is to keep tabs on what is happening, and keep trying to perfect climate models as best we can. This is standard practice in an scientific study. Check the results with he theory and when the observations don't match the theory, modify the theory so that they do. Keep doing this as long as necessary until either the theory is so accurate that predictions are always correct, or some other theory is found that better explains the observational data. The current computer models are starting to fail since observational data is not following what they predicted. The haven't yet failed completely as more time is needed to see if the global temperatures will rise rapidly over the next few years to "catch up" with the models. If they fail to do so then the models will need to be re-tuned yet again, or new models developed. If the temperature rises to fall in line with the predictions they it increases their chances of being correct. No amount of debate by those for or against AGW will make the sightless difference to all this.
