How many tonnes can you load on a ship vs how many on a plane?
An Airbus A380 can carry 150 tonnes. That means it would have to fly 100x to replace a cargo of 15.000t that goes currently with one ship.
The purchase price of the plane does not really matter. Fuel and running costs are just orders of magnitude higher than shipping.
