Spodumene concentrate cannot be ship-loaded like the heavy coppers or iron ores at Port Hedland ..
Its all about containing the lightweight spodumene dusts from the Port Hedland winds...
Its classed as a dry bulk containerized cargo that can contaminate . Its the reason its transported in Rota-boxes from the Contained Storage Sheds at CUBE . Once the Craned Rota boxes are suspended over the ships holds within the protection of the ships walls then the ore is released in such a way to reduce any dust problems...
Back to a few years ago my notes say others tried loading via their Shiploader conveyors some Wodgina DSO (Direct shipped Ore) -and it has not happen that way since. That producer has since moved on.
Of course the buyers much prefer the PLS concentrate version they are currently transporting....
