The 6 days for ship loading caught my eye. I'm assuming they're still using rotaboxes / rotainers for ship loading. I wonder if Port Hedland is considering a shiploader system that'd be good for ship turnaround times in the order of 48 hours.

At present they're still only handling relatively small volumes, but as volumes increase from PLS and others, I wonder if they're considering a more efficient system.

Does anyone know if the expansion plans announced earlier this year include an upgrade to the spodumene handling facilities, or will it be the same using half height containers and rotabox/rotainer ship loading? It looks to me like it's just an additional general cargo berth and they'll continue to use rotaboxes / rotainers.

It'll be an interesting spot to watch in the coming years as potential volumes ramp up from other miners. I think that Port Hedland will eventually expand to a full blown dump station/stockpile/reclaim/shiploader operation at Port Hedland for handling spodumene efficiently over the next decade.
