A story so far, OR is it a fairy tale. Quiet a few moons ago, say six or seven years I purchased some shares in Axion ( ASX AVQ ) on the strength of their announcement that they had acquired the rights to a nickel deposit in the Solomon Islands. This was the largest undeveloped Ni deposit in the Pacific. It had been looked over by such people as Kaiser, Inico and Sumitomo. Anyway it didn't take long for some people to raise some doubts as to the validity of the claim. Anyway I sold out , didn't make or loose any money but kept an eye on developments over the years.Axiom signed agreements with local villagers over two areas and proceeded on their way towards development. Apparently the villages didn't like the Japanese. Sumitomo thought it has a better right than Axion as they had been talking to the Government about the same deposits. What Sumo didn't understand was that under SI law the Landowners determine who or what goes on, on their land not the National Government. So many years of Court cases etc, political shenanigans change of Government etc. Anyway eventually Axiom came out on top, and a couple of months ago were granted a Mining Lease.Your maybe asking where is this going, and the answer is maybe nowhere. But Axiom has been drilling like mad to prove up the deposit, oh by the way it comes in at 1.6% Ni (Ramu 1%). At this moment it is delivering equipment to San Jorge Island by barge, the first deposit to be developed.Announcement today in part, is that they will be digging ore this year with first DSO delivery 1st quarter 2019.Now here's where conspiracy theorists can have a field day. With first sale imminent they have not announced to whom or where the ore will be processed. They are being very tight lipped. Why?A bit like our crowd who are trying like mad not to say too much about the Ramu expansion before APEC.Wouldn't it be funny if the two were tied together. Low transport costs too.Anyway this is in no way investment advice. I have a history of adding 2 and 2 and coming up with the wrong answer.
