Interesting that Som is stepping down from NMDC in December, which is the same time he is going to be joining the Legacy board.
The article says Som is responsible for turning NMDC into the monster that it is today. Imagine what this guy can do when he is on the board of Legacy.
Interesting his view on how to set up a company..
1) build a superstructure to sustain the company
2) get into vertical integration
3) create space for horizontal integration into other minerals.
That is what he has done with NMDC.
So if he replicates that in Legacy,
1) he builds legacy into a company that can sustain itself -- does that mean mining assets / revenue streams
2) vertical integration - looking at coal, iron or and phosphate. All ingredients to make steel.
3) horizontal integration - MAK, other iron ore, coal
Also interesting that they are going into steel making. Phosphate, iron ore, coal etc are all key steel ingredients.
Seems to be a clear pattern emerging from his vision of how companies should be run and set up.
Legacy as a "superstructure"..... I like the sound of that.
Welcome to the board Mr Som.
