You've left out the role schooling, specifically non-existent school discipline is playing and ALSO the role the free-to-air TV programming in Australia is playing - The Channels 7, 9 and 10 groups where programs portraying sociopathic behavior (violence, lying, theft, alcoholism, drug use, etc) are now commonplace. I think for kids to see a TV program with real people interacting in such ways has FAR more impact than any rendered video game would have.
