the moderates, the swing voters also, who had not yet deserted the Turnbull govt.
He is trying to sound like Abbott or Dutton and does not do that too well.
He sounds desperate trying to create a Khemlani type xenophobia situation
using Dastiyari and is making China sound like an enemy of this country.
It smacks of children overboard lies and over-reach imo. If there is a problem with China why did this govt approve the sale of a a strategically located Australian Port to Chinese govt controlled interests and why is the govt dealing in property development issues with the person they appear to be saying is a security concern. Why have Liberal Party branches accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars across the nation from interests linked to the Chinese billionaire in question. Something doesn’t gel imo.
It seems about desperate politics that can backfire on Australia and about trying to tarnish Bill Shorten which the govt has been trying to do for ages and so far failed.
If China has somehow become an enemy of Australia the govt needs to put the case to the Australian people instead of politically motivated sly messages that might cause unjustified xenophobia in respect to our many Asian citizens.

Eagle, it's the left that are trying to make out Turnbull is alienating the Chinese.
He is not, the Dastiari case suggests inappropriate behaviour that is not in Australia's interests.
Does any one suggest China has no spies or try to influence people in Australia? I am damm sure they have/do just as we conduct surveillance.
There is reports of a Chinese language social media site urging the chines in Bennelong to vote for KK, who knows if the Chinese Gov is behind that but it smells of inappropriate interference
