Nine Lives - perversely the GFC was a benefit to Rudd.
When it hit he was sitting on a rolled gold economy with funds available and he implemented the same "solutions" that many other economies did but they were doing it from a far less sustainable position. Then of course China came to our assistance regardless.
The greatest compliment that Rudd receives is that he "got us through" the GFC. so I do not accept that it made his tenure difficult or that it was reason for his failure. That was due to his dysfunctional leadership. I have never heard anybody claim that the GFC caused his undoing.
