Newt Gingrich, former U.S. House speaker, former presidential candidate and author, kicked off the conference by sharing insights he’s gained during decades of experience in multiple fields and how they might be applied to health care.

As an example, he cited an Australian-developed app on the verge of commercialization, called ResApp, that can diagnose lung illnesses in children just by listening to their breathing, which could lead to the end of using a chest X-ray to diagnose pneumonia or asthma.
