@victa5851 as per the post by Richard OZ, he hit the nail on the head when it comes to differences between us pharmacists being able to use a stethoscope vs. a medical practitioner - can't say i want to jump on their toes either. Diagnosis is their expertise, and treatment is mine. TGA will supply the support we need for it to be used for clinical decisions, and therefore is the green light for its use, it's really that simple.
As per your comments on the governing bodies, it'll just be apart of our "expanding scope of practice" and the support arsenal we carry in our pharmacies. We already do BP, glucose and cholesterol checks, flu vaccinations and watch this space for diabetes screening and prescribing in the near future, so it'll just be another service added. We can only do so much though, our pockets aren't as deep as some may think, and therefore require the remuneration through the CPA's that you have mentioned to not only make this financially viable for us to use, but for it to be a device readily accessible for the community to use too. Whether the Resapp strikes a deal with the medicare to allow us to claim for the service (like the doctor will in his consult room), time will only tell and I'm eager to see what i get access to in the new new 7th CPA agreement.
@uz3r - it may be my first post, but everyone has got to start somewhere right? I don't trade stocks and live on hotcopper for a living, I'm too busy making money to dabble in stocks for a bit of a hobby!
Love RAP just as much as MB!
