Due to recent debacles regarding allegations of rape, rape victims should always: (a) report the matter to the police ASAP (b) present to the local hospital and have genetic swabs taken (c) ensure that a sample is given to the police* & that a further sample is preserved (d) then, and only then, decide on whether to proceed with the case.
If the evidence is preserved and that the victim later decides on proceeding with the ligation, then she has at least got some legally admissable evidence. (rapists dont usually use condoms!)
PS: Police should be required to keep rape "samples" for a given period of time even if the plaintif withdraws charges because she may change her mind later.
