No real way to tell asides on sites such as CVS where I'm pretty sure you have to be a verified buyer to post on. I mean you could go through the profiles to see creation date and general activity but who could be arsed?
I don't think it's a concern for us. They use a cheap reader likely of Chinese origin (their 'ellume lab' is imported from China). It's not unusual for a Chinese manufacturer to swap out your PCB to something cheaper to manufacture.
I'll check CVS, which should be the main source for reviews later when I get access to a VPN but for now, here's Facebook and Amazon.
