My simple understanding is this - rare earths are resources used for producing advanced products like hybrid cars, wind turbines and magnets. China controls 97% of global supply but they are cutting their supply so there is a global deficit.
Lynas along with maybe 2 other companies globally will be in a position to take advantage of the skyrocketing prices in 2011-2012 before other companies come online in maybe 2015.
I have shares in Lynas. Some REE prices have increased by 10x this year because of supply insecurity and deficit.
