Not saying you are wrong in your statements about Myanmar, but I think a lot of people are missing a huge reason behind China's push into that country.
China has been trying for at least 40 years to persuade the various Burmese Governments to give it direct access to the Indian Ocean by allowing it to build a Port near Sitwee on the Arakanese peninsula, with a road rail corridor back to Yunnan. Up until recently the region was populated by the Rohingya people, no longer !
A Chinese Port (Naval Base) on the Indian Ocean would be a very real problem for the USA, India and East Africa.
