IMO NAB's foray into the UK has been nothing but a millstone for over a decade. If they can get a good price for the banks there, then IMO sell them should the price be right.

If not then perhaps with the UK banking rules changing or rather also making it easier for UK customers to switch banks, then a similar media campaign like last years highly successful one here by NAB, may be of benefit.

    http://www.brandchannel.com/home/post/2011/06/24/NAB-Viral-Marketing.aspx

"has improved its market share and raised its profile, the site notes, as well as gaining a 50% boost in credit card applications, a 20% increase in mortgage applications, a 35% increase in interest from customers of other banks in moving over to NAB, and a 1% increase in NAB's share of the mortgage business."

According to NAB ANN, they gained 450,000 new customers. That is certainly nothing to be sneezed at.

Perhaps running a similar campaign (if the UK regulatory rules allow) in the UK, as part of their strategy review, may be money well spent. Even if successful it still leaves the option of selling to NBNK, albeit at a higher base. It may be money well spent, just a thought.
