The dropping in the aussie dollar is having the desired effect.......
I was speaking to a wine grower and maker....... he is currently doing vintage in the Barossa area.
He said this years vintage is very good but low yielding. Some in the region were affected by storms ie hail and in some cases heat.
All his vintage has been presold, except for the few tonnes he uses to produce his wines under his label.
A grade grapes are in shortage this year and in demand as are the other classes of grape. B-C-D
The wine glut is just about over by the sounds of it.....
He said no vineyard has planted new vines since 2008 and in some cases ripped some out and this is causing the shortage as the demand is increasing again.
So the grape growers are now slowly seeing better days as it was only 2 years ago that up to 53 grape growers had their properties for sale due to the slow down. In the Barossa alone....
