"The ratification through the usual PNG government protocols is still in progress. The Department has confirmed that as soon as this ratification is complete Metal Storm will receive payment of the first deposit due under the contract."

Since then...

1.Papua New Guinea's police commissioner has been sacked for allegedly misleading senior government members to unnecessarily release 10 million kina ($A4 million) for special operations.

Is this the MST contract? (im speculating here)

2. Papua New Guinea's Supreme Court has ruled the reappointment of the country's governor-general was unconstitutional and invalid.

3.Papua New Guinea's government has challenged a court ruling that found the governor-general's appointment was invalid and parliament must resit by January 20.

4. Papua New Guinea prime minister Sir Michael Somare has stepped down.

5. Opposition plans a vote of no confidence to dislodge the Government when they do reconvene.
