it may have been a lot more than 2 billion.
At the time of the reporting of the cost blowouts for the Ravensthorpe project figures as high as 3.8 billion and as low as 2.2 billion had been reported in WA newspapers.
The origional budget was 1.8 billion and and 18 months construction time. Construction began in early 2005.
Construction continued officially until the grand opening in 2008 and construction work was still being carried out right up until the closing of the site.
So 2 billion may be a very modest estimate.
