First Quantum Minerals has retained Jefferies to explore a sale of two nickel mines; Kevitsa Ni-Co is located in Finland and Ravensthorpe located in Western Australia. Could POS buy this second hand laterite mine? they did have a tilt at it back in 2008/9 but FQM beat them to the punch. Second time around comes the laterite mine!
The three sources said the sale process is likely to attract the interest of rivals like Lundin Mining, Royal Nickel Corp, Anglo American PLC, Boliden and other private equity backed players in the sector.
Aus players could be Western Areas or Panoramic. Given Cosmos went for $25M wonder how much Ravensthorpe would fetch.
