"pay off after 2-3 months" simply means that after 2-3 months the cost of the well (about US$6 mio. for a Middle Wilcox well) is repaid for the JV.
After the pay off period the well is producing profit for the JV - month by month by month ... so, the more (such) wells you have the better your profits
And remember, Duncan #1 for example produced 2.1 bcf since commencement of sale in dec 2007 without any sign of natural decline ... nice return on the STX invest ... :-)
