Result of a Depression from the comfort of our Western armchairs is one thing , the resultant hardship and chaos would have been indescribable to the poor and the world would have been in a chaotic situation way beyond the next few decades.

Well done Bernanke and thank goodness he studied the Great Depression as well as he did. He muddled his way through it brilliantly and understood the human suffering he avoided.

If you have not already done so read his papers for another take on things - however speaking for myself believe we are over the worst and expect gold to take a real pasting from here on in.
