The government does have other stimulus packages; I believe the next one will be on major infrastructure assets which will improve productivity in the long term.
I think it is incorrect to assess every government economic decisions in terms of productivity gains. To carry that to its extreme, some people would probably say stop welfare payments all together as they are not productive in the economic sense but are positive in the eco-social context, one of which is to lessen the possibility of social unrest and consequently disrupting the productive economic efforts of some.
