I am almost certain that when there is next a change in base rates, it will be a downward move.

In between now and then rates will not go up but there is the risk of the banks raising the variable rate they charge despite static or dropping base rates.

I think the banks who do that will be made to suffer from loss of angry customers and any such shennanigans will be short lived.

It is possible that I am wrong in my forecast of a 0.25% drop between Sep and Dec but I am still leaning in that direction. Most certainly if it does not happen by Dec, rates will drop very early in the new year.
