Optimism doesn't require indebted up to your eye balls. Has he seen the Household debt to GDP ratio? It's detached from reality. The Reserve Bank have lost their charter. The corporate banks have been allowed to run wild and now have the foot on everyone's throat. Westpac perfect example this week.
