    It's my understanding that they haven’t yet determined whether the next dividend will be franked; the amount of the dividend will be a factor in that determination. Just to make sure it is clear what the implications are:

    • A PDF unfranked dividend should not be included in a shareholder’s taxable income (i.e. there is no tax to pay)
    • A PDF franked dividend may be included in or excluded from a shareholder’s taxable income (the shareholder chooses). Typically, a shareholder who pays tax at less than the company rate will choose to include it to get the benefit of the franking credit. A shareholder who pays tax at or above the company rate will choose to exclude it so that they do not pay any more tax on the dividend income.

    Hopefully we get some news re the US patent extn by end Q1.
