I must confess I have been following with interest the evolution of your convictions in relation to the issues facing Israel and the Palestinians.
I like your honesty! You are right! No matter what Israel does there will be no peace between Israel and the Palestinians for as long as Israel occupies even so much as one inch of the land.
Hard-line Islamic groups who refuse to recognize Israel’s right to exist vow to fight for the ‘total extinction’ of Israel and to reoccupy a land they claim ‘rightfully belongs to them’
The fight has been taken to the West, in particular America. Their stated aim is the “total elimination” of America who remains aligned to Israel. The late Ayatollah Khomeini labeled the United States of America as the ‘Great Satan’ ‘There is no God but Allah! Down USA’ has become the chant of the streets throughout many Muslim cities.
When Muslims direct their chant towards the USA they are in reality directing their chant to the entire Western civilization. The USA is seen as the capital of the West. To many Muslims it is an honour to be involved in the elimination of the Western ‘infidels– white trash’
It is time for the West to come to the realization that over the past few decades there has been a vast stirring underway among the Moslems that is in the process of changing the face of international relationships. Jihad has been declared on not just America or the Western hemisphere; it is to the whole world, even to the remotest corners of the earth. “We shall export our revolution to the whole world. Until the cry, “There is no God but Allah” declared the late Ayatollah Khomeini of Iran. Even Moslem governments with sympathy towards the West are not safe.
‘Ummah’ is a term used by Muslims that speaks of the totality of all Muslim communities. On the surface this sounds simple enough. But underneath there is a more dynamic meaning which gives a clearer picture of what is driving the radical Muslim. The verb ‘amma’ means ‘to proceed towards a given object’ Thus ‘Ummah’ speaks of unity and interdependence as the dynamic objectives of the brotherhood of Islam that is continuously proceeding towards the state of Islam for the whole globe. No one is ever converted to Islam. Muslim’s believe that we are all born Muslims and what is necessary is for each to revert back to the true faith of Islam.
The desired objective is for a single people of the world, united in piety, politics and culture. The aim is to initiate a valid Islamic leadership in every country of the world that administers the Islamic law –the ‘shariah’ with Jerusalem as the capital. According to Islamic theology Allah alone has the right to make laws and therefore any non–Islamic government has no jurisdiction over Muslims. Peace will come when the Islamic flag flies over the place of central government of each and every country or territory. We must always remember they are in no hurry. They believe time is on their side. They do not expect short term results. They firmly believe that eventually the seeds being planted will sprout.
The process of change is affected through the tried and tested political means of initially being quite and accepting of the status quo for as long as the numbers are few. As numbers increase, mainly through immigration, so does confidence and demands upon the society at both the local and national level. Along the way the group paints itself as being victimized. The group gains sympathy. Anyone who is critical of the groups objectives is quickly and forcefully confronted. Much of what is going on across the globe is financed with petro dollars mainly from the Gulf States.
Dr Mahatir Mohammed as Prime minister of Malaysia, in common with many other Muslim leaders has vigorously attacked such American icons as capitalism, ‘…the free market, globalization, liberalism, deregulation, absolute freedom etctera…’ Then there is Islam’s well known stance on secularism which they see as a danger to society, ‘change is necessary if human civilization is to be preserved from the rise of secularism that wants to turn the world into an entertainment house where the sins of the West are freely perpetuated’
In all this we need to be careful not to misread extremist statements as being an accurate reflection of the sentiments of the majority of Muslims. The majority are peace loving, community minded, with a genuine religious devotion.
The two main enemies of Islam are Israel and Christianity and they see the West as Christian. Both Christianity and Islam have claims on truth. To both the consequence of rejecting one for the other has an eternal consequence. Both cannot be right. One uses guns and bombs the other uses the testimony of their word. Many, many stories can be told of Muslims converting to Christianity who have been tortured and/or murdered with their families constantly harassed even here in Australia. There is now the beginnings of a stirring for Christians world wide to awaken from a lethargy of spiritual miasma that has the potential of being a real threat to Islam. Even here in Australia, where according to a recent NCS survey more people still attend church in one week than go to the AFL in one year; there are stirrings within the sleeping bear.
This fight is a continuation from the time of the Crusades. Never will the Muslims surrender till their goal has been achieved.
For the Muslim the Israeli/Palestinian question will be resolved in Allah’s time. The Muslim’s are never in a hurry. It is only the West that is in panic mode!
