It has been played with for months by some unknown group or groups. For a long time it appeared they were trying to push price down and always tried to close it on its lows. Shorts have increased on the stock according to shortman.com.au website.
Very strange they now seem to be happy to sell it down all day only to dress it up at close.
My normal interpretation of painting the price up at close would be someone is selling a large holding but very strange after last few months. I can only guess shorters tick the price up to try and encourage buyers to take their short sells at higher price? Then let it fall all day and buy back on lows.
