There are various molecules that either block or assist z ring formation and like most biochemical mechanisms there are exquisite controls on either side of the equation. SlmA is a blocker. The Recce announcements on 27/5 and 27/7 don’t mention SlmA as far as I can see but that’s irrelevant. The 27/7 announcement mentions ATP blockage as the number one mechanism stopping z ring formation. That’s another worry for me because FtsZ is GTPase (a switch), not ATPase but that might be a typo. ATP is what powers all cells in all life.
I doubt the science is going to reveal itself on HC, we know it’s just a binary punt. It’s more about confirmation bias, that’s why I post anyway.
