Just like the "Flu" this virus is mutating creating new strains (All year round in both hemispheres for now), the vaccines are based on the original strain genome (earliest captured) and so may not be as affective against new strains. The reason for the multiple dose and "booster" shot (or so called wearing off) is because they have not locked down the correct dosing range and timing yet as the vaccine is still being studied.
There exists many different types of vaccines that require multiple shots over a number of weeks and these days are generally administered when you are a child.

Long story short the current vaccine will drastically help improve/reduce symptoms just like people who get the flu vax and still catch the flu but are able to fight it off or get very mild symptoms because their body will be able to recognize some part of the virus, this is because the flu vax is based on last seasons flu and any other strains they are able to get into the vax before production.
I believe the virus will eventually calm down (18 months - 2 years) and the vaccine will just be mixed in or taken at the same time with your yearly flu vax.
You can rest assure the strain you get protected from in the flu vax each year is more than likely an old mutation by the time your kids/partner or family are sick and mutate the flu virus further and pass it onto you, this is an exaggeration obviously as it passes through 1000's of people mutating before meeting your family....
