you can use un crystalised losses in this tax - u dont need to sell for a loss...... If that stock in the new financial year goes up and you make a profit you adjust this in the next financial period... If im holding a loss which has no benefit in myself to sell i will use it as a offset if im comfortable in that stock moving north ....
You can do it either way thats just something i was shown and i use it ....
