I agree that it now looks like ENI are the masters of the MEO/ENI JV now and require a more (substantial) timeframe to make any decision, but how about MEO be honest and say any decision is deferred until ENI and the JV decide.
These creeping deadlines do zero for MEO's credibility and in fact do more to damage investor confidence that just coming clean and stating the facts...good/bad/indifferent.
MEO management have handled this badly IMHO and stringing along tired investors with a hope it will be settled in 3 weeks when they clearly state that discussions are underway for a more substantial deferral is misleading.
I get the feeling MEO are setting these deadlines just to satisfy ASX continuous disclosure rules without disclosing the entire truth.
