when btu were progressing at Bolt type speed early last year, I raised concerns re the number of projects they were buying and in particular, the environmental concerns that were around even prior to btu trying to change the world. I've always been a fan of management who move carefully into projects. So btu have made their own bed in this regard - the speed of project acquisition and proposed dev was always going to be tough, esp in a country where environmental sensitivities are paramount. I'm sure I'm not telling anyone anything new there. The fundementals have not changed. The market is smashing any stock with attendant uncertainties. I'm still very interested in views on the legal process in NZ as that will assist in clearing the way to a path forward. So yes - from my perspective, it's one step at a time now. There's no way around that. But at these prices, it's a great risk/reward play IMO. numbers of people reading the btu threads tells me we're well and truly out of favour, but the basics are there. I guess it's a matter of investment timeframes. I'm happy to be there for 3 yrs + but at the same time, I think there's a bounce to be had.
Good luck to all and think about whether we are closer now to becoming a major coal producer than 14 months ago when we paid multiples of the current price
