I agree, I started by saying it is a complex question.

What bothers me is that well-meaning people will want the clean cobalt, and they will pay a premium for it, and the people who cheat and bootleg in the DRC will get their stuff out and it will go into cars that are not headed for the West. The Chinese or Russians or whoever will get the profit from the cobalt the do-gooders avoid, and we well-meaning folks will pay more for our cobalt with the Feel Good label, and the child laborers will either continue to be exploited with worse conditions, or have no work at all because we don't want their cobalt.

We are holding the miners responsible. It is the Congolese and their government who are responsible. The miners did not create the situation, they are trying to operate in it.
