I agree. It was more of a sigh from me than blatant lecturing. I imagine the energy future as having huge renewable energy farms, whether wind or solar, with ship-container sized batteries being brought there for a recharge and loaded ones being taken back to cities for use. To run not only households but also commercial & public buildings and operations. Something like a cargo port in a desert. Basically a massive infrastructural change in energy market.
Having said that, Li-ion batteries won't do the job. It will have to be advanced solid state batteries (BMW just bought american start-up Solid Power. Not sure if they use Co in cathodes) and maybe something like 1414degrees are trying to develop. I wonder if someone here knows about them possibly going public (?).
Unless, there will be some new way of delivering electricity over long distances with minimum loss of charge.
Well, for the time being, I will rely on usage of Li-ion containing Cobalt for next 10 years or so.
