"Said Hanrahan" was a poem about a pessimist of Irish descent penned by the australian bush poet John O'Brien which first appeared in 1921.It has become part of the lighter side of Australian folklore,because even if the "sun was shining", all he could see was the gloom no matter what.A born pessimist through and through,pessimistic to the point whereby a healthy sceptic would seem like an eternal optimist.Kungpowbeef-you are probably one of the nicest guys anyone could ever hope to meet,but whenever I read your posts I see Hanrahan and crack up.Your blind pessimism has become the source of entertainment I would guess for many on this forum.I don't normally get personal and I mean what I said in the kindest possible way and hope that it might even bring out a chuckle in you.But really your pessimism is something else!
