re: crystal ball The judge will be slapping CMQ with the maximum possible fines and hugh court costs after QUOTE:
"As far as I'm concerned, it's a commercial settlement and looking at it from what's the best thing for the company, that's not to accumulate large legal costs and tie up management in court," Mr Williams said.
The parallel is a drunk driver coming before a judge pleading for a lenient fine after publishing in the papers –“I am pleading guilty to drink driving. As far as I'm concerned, it's a commercial settlement and looking at it from what's the best thing for me, that's not to accumulate large legal costs and tie my time up in court". Oh yeah, I the judge will be full of sympathy, wont he?
As a lawyer himself Mr Williams would have considered this before issuing his statement. This is why I believe it was a calculated move– the statement was issued to maximise positive reaction to CMQ share price (albeit glaringly not successful!) probably because there is no good news left to announce. This is similar to stating the resignation and sacking of key production personnel enhanced the company position. When there is no good news, polish the bad news to look like good news!
Cheers.
