Stocks surged last night on optimism after Bernanke pledged to keep interest rates low for the foreseeable future and to provide more tax breaks in the US to stimulate employment, reassuring investors.
DJIA Index: Finished the session Up 91.75 pts. SPI Futures: Up 22 pts.
Of Note: Durable Goods Orders, Jobless claims & the Fed. Balance Sheet all come out in the US tonight; and Bernanke speaks again before the Senate Committee on Banking Housing & Urban Affairs. [Source: Bloomberg]
Gold is Down $6.30 and is currently sitting at $1,097.20/oz (Kitco); Oil is Up $1.14 to $80.00/barrel (NYMEX/Bloomberg); and the AUD/USD is currently trading at 0.8929 cents (Forex. Live).
