I must apologise for my post message No. 545550 - mistakes were said.
I have done some research which I have satisfied myself and hopefully will assist others who are unsure about dividends.
Cum Means with. For example, cum-bonus means that shares are being traded with the current bonus; in other words,the buyer of the shares receives the bonus.
Cum-dividend Shares entitling the buyer to the current dividend. (....^ and including 23/3/2005 - tls).
Ex-dividend Share entitling the seller to the current dividend. (on 24/3/2005 - tls).
*We all know that what you read on HotCoppper or other sites like this - before you make a decision on any investment you must do research yourself. If you are still not sure, ring your broker, or any equities instituition for advice.*
In the meantime, Ajax's vitriol against me was insensitive and very unprofessional from someone who is obviously experienced and knowledgeable person in these matters.
