"EUROPEAN stock markets closed higher overnight, with London's FTSE 100 index gaining 1.15 per cent to 5004.3 points, its first finish above 5000 points in 11 months.
In Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.27 per cent to 3707.69 points, its first close above 3700 points this year.
The Frankfurt DAX finished at 5574.26 points, up 1.69 per cent. "
