Not shooting the messenger, Polly, but this range anxiety BS bugs me to no end. The reality is that in many cases, if not the majority, a family sports two cars. And in many cases, if not the majority, one of those cars is used for the city runaround, which only requires a limited range per day. Pluck a figure from ones freckle and say circa 60kms per day (the world average, which can be toped up overnight from ones own solar/battery (free from the sun). To extrapolate, let's say circa one third of the worlds cars fall into this category of primary city use. That's a hell of a lot of EVs that are viable TODAY, given range anxiety is really not an issue for the city EV. As for the other two third of cars, advances in battery tech will solve the out-of-city range anxiety question in due course. In the meantime, if people come to see this reality dynamic, then city car pollution, where it is at its worst, will become a thing of the past. A bonus while we wait for 800 km plus range EVs.
