Wind and solar subsidies?? They are things of the past... 3-5 years ago. At the moment the majority of wind and solar projects, including all large scale projects in all major countries ( Europe, US, India, Australia, China, Canada).
At the moment large scale solar projects are backed buy PPA (Power Purchase Agreements) with utilities and large consumers , usually with 15-25 years agreements for a fixed price of the energy (around 40-55 AUD/MWh produced). Now a day PPA is transitioning to Merchant, with PPAs with shorter timeframed, where most of energy is sold to the energy pool market.
Currently working on a 400MWh/200MW BESS directly connected to the DC solar field (BESS is connected always in AC), the first of this kind in AU. The big point, is DC BESS allows to retrofit any existing solar/wind farm with a BESS...
