You sound like you're afraid to make money. Short selling exists to be used.
Unless you have holdings at 5.00 or 6.00, 8.75 is approaching implosion point. If it falls through 8.00 you long term holders are finished.

Inflation at .2 is very high. They will raise for sure if that comes through.
