True Goldie The media are only buying what they know they can sell. Ultimately it is the public that crave the information and will pay for it. There are so many others who have suffered far worse hardships than the two miners that receive nothing but that is how it goes.
I don't think anyone can begrudge them what ever they can get paid and what they do with it is up to them.
If it was in the US it would be worth many 10's of millions in law suits so you wouldn't need the media bucks.
