“There is great potential in aluminium consumption in China, “ said Zhang Jilin, Head of China Nonferrous Metal Processing Industry Association and “expanding aluminium applications is making achievements”. China’s aluminium alloy oil tanks account for 8% of the total and aluminium alloy-based construction template output has shown rapid growth, says Zhang Jilin. Moreover, a breakthrough has been achieved in the commercialized application of aluminium-air battery. These will surely boost primary aluminium consumption in China and worldwide.
In addition, the environment for Chinese aluminium processing industry will be improved with deepening supply-side structural reform. The national plan, dubbed “Made in China 2025”and the 13thFive-Year Plan for the nonferrous metal industry propose accelerating the development of high-performance light alloy materials. Aluminium alloy is preferred in aviation, automobile, building, electronics and packing industries as the most important light, energy-efficient and renewable environmental-friendly material. The State Council has released a guideline for creating a good market environment to boost structural adjustment; transformation and profit increase in the nonferrous metal industry. The guideline urges consumption of nonferrous metal materials in aerospace, automobile, building, electronic and packing sectors with a focus on aluminium alloy plates for passenger automobile, aviation and shipping.
