There appears to have been a bit of a squabble over the degree of importance management makes to the success of a project.On the one hand there are those who feel that the extent and quality of the resource is paramount and that bringing it on stream is a somewhat automatic procedure which many qualified people are capable of doing.Certainly some validity in this.On the other hand there are those who feel,myself included,that it takes excellent management no matter how good the resource,to bring "home the bacon." Management being only "technically capable" is not enough and won't do it,as it does not take the human dimension into account.A passion for the project,the resolve to overcome obstacles,and the ability to think adroitly and at times even laterally are the qualities which make for sound and successful management.Come last June and there was a question mark as to whether we could hang on to Deflector at all. Compare that to the happy position we find our selves in now, 6 months later. To achieve that degree of progress and consolidation in a very difficult and risk averse market,highly competent management is critical.We should all be very appreciative of the fact that we have been fortunate enough to have had JG "behind the wheel"-otherwise it is it is quite possible that for us Deflector would by now be just a memory,leaving us haunted by the 2 words of regret-"if only".We see mismanagement,we see medicore management,and we see good management,but we don't often see excellent management-we are fortunate to have the latter.
