re: pinnacle does it again another battery sale. Sorry Facty, the VRB-ESS would be too big for what I would need on the Isle of Capri.
However, recent price and volume action on VRB suggests that something is coming up.
Given the closeness to the VRB AGM I suspect that something could be about to be announced.
A bigger battery for windfarms perhaps, a VRB version of the SEI first generation units? Imagine the possibilities in Australia.
The Australian government is damping down increases in wind power in Australia; one excuse being given is that too much wind (600MW is too much????) destabilizes electricity grids. Cynics would say the feds want to advantage clean coal over renewables.
One has to admit though that wind did itself no favours in South Australia during the last heatwave in Adelaide - air conditioning demand peaked, the grid interconnector was at it's limits and the wind dropped to nearly nothing.
Big, cheap, reliable batteries would save wind from being discredited at such times. Big batteries are also more expensive overall (although cheaper per watt hour) and more profitable to install. VRB is heading that way. First 5kWhr, then 10kWhr, now 30-50kWhr, always incrementally bigger.
Pinnacle will benefit greatly from the bigger battery developments coming out of Vancouver.
