Not suggesting so much as speculating :)

As we all know, Bill's been talking about it being a platfrom technology for some time now. Then in August last year, we hired Dr Michael Mendicino as R&D Programme Manager, Regenerative Medicine.

"Dr Mendicino will oversee the company's applied research programme in regenerative medicine and TISSUE ENGINEERING" -my emphasis.

Before joining Avita, Dr Mendicino was Lead Scientist at Athersys Inc (NASDAQ ATHX) where he was responsible for a research project developing the clinical transplant of adult stem cells.

Prior to this he was Senior Investigator at the National Center for Regenerative Medicine (NCRM), Cleveland Ohio.

From their website :

"The National Center for Regenerative Medicine (NCRM) builds upon leading research and clinical programs at its founding institutions....in heart disease, cancer, genetic disorders, wound healing, and immunological, musculoskeletal, and neuro-degenerative diseases.

"Regenerative medicine represents a new form of medicine using stem cells and tissue engineered scaffolds to generate new tissue in diseased or damaged organs."

So comparing the article Bent posted with Dr Mendicino's areas of expertise at NCRM and ATHX - transplanting adult stem cells, tissue engineering, reprogramming skin cells into retinal, heart, and neural precursor cells - you can see more than enough areas of confluence to speculate that this may indeed be the direction the company is taking in its plans "for expansion of product lines and clinical indications in the field of regenerative medeicine."

IMHO.

Can't be certain, of course, that this is specifically what they are doing, but we can be certain they are doing something in this area because they say so, and because that is what Dr Mendicino areas of expertise are, and what he was hired to do.
