As for buy and hold not quite convinced that is way to go currently.
You say intso's do not trade as such (that's the jist I got from your post.)
Look at market behaviour and the only conclusion one can draw is they all trade.
Resource ,AU and cyclic stocks are good examples, couple of indicators say buy (price of underlying commodity or whatever) and bang everyone's in. Don't tell me these guys have no exit strategy.
Sector rotation has a huge influence on the market , to me just another example of trading with no intentions of blindly holding.
Might be wrong but the market by definition is all about trading.
The major pitfall with trading is the tendency to overtrade, this is where I assume people go wrong.
The young bloke (Nickoo) made a good point some time ago saying in this current market you should wait until a potential trade jumps out the the screen and slaps you about the head before entering.
(Or words to that effect)
The words of a wise trader 'Let the market come to you, do not go to the market' LOL.
