re: showdown Why are traders so conspicuously absent from the Australian BRW rich list and Forbes global rich list?
How do you know there aren't any traders in these lists?

The rich lists give a few paragraphs describing how each fortune was made. I read these with great interest, many of the stories are inspiring window-washer-to-corporate-zillionare types eg the CEO of TEMpo. I've yet to read of a single person who made the money from technical trading. If the 30% annual compounding returns which you guys say are achievable, the lists should be full of traders.

Where is a link to credible academic study showing
traders can beat buy-and-holders? Have not bothered to look, but do you really considered the biased stuff you have been pasting credible? Give us a break ...

Biased? The beauty of this research is that is that it is objective not subjective. They analysed REAL trades in REAL markets and found that traders lose. This is more reliable than the subjective, biased and unproveable claims of success espoused on this forum.

Why are there no large, successful fund managers in Australia or the US with a technical trading mandate?
Oh really, where did you dig up that little gem??

Prove me wrong. I've been researching potential fund managers for my US 401k plan and have been scanning hundreds of funds & their philosophies. I've yet to read any fund manger than admits to using this charting or astronomy nonsense. If it was a successful strategy then I would expect to see at least a few big funds using this technique.

There's a lot in northern NSW and southern Qld and
those in the Casino area are involved in the meat
industry, butchers and such ... if my memory serves
    me well.

The irony is that we have a distant family connection. You are my estranged long lost brother in law 5 times removed. You moved West to Perth, I moved East to NY.

Suffice to say ...... the HDR saga will be played out on screens across, the country ... will you be a winner?
Correction. The HDR saga will be played out in the oil fields of Mauritania. HDR and its long time shareholders are already winners. Will we continue to win? You betcha. If HDR isn't above a $1 in 24 months time you can cut and paste this quote on HC and call me a naive oil brained codswallop. As pennance I'll change my nic to Yogi-was-right and buy your book. ;-)
